2027 Ram Heavy Duty models are back for another year of tackling the toughest jobs, bringing some noteworthy updates, which we’ll highlight below. If you’re looking for a pickup truck that offers the strength and durability to haul and tow extremely heavy loads, the Ram HD truck lineup offers two powerful options: the Ram 2500 for sale and the Ram 3500 for sale.

What’s New for the 2027 Ram Heavy Duty?

For the first time, the Power Wagon in the Ram 2500 lineup offers the option of a 6.7liter Cummins High-Output (HO) turbo-diesel inline-six engine. But if you decide to choose the Power Wagon with the 6.4liter HEMI® V8 engine instead, you’ll have the option of available beadlock-capable wheels.

For the new model year, GVWR and payload capability are boosted in the Ram 3500 4×4 SRW Regular Cab 8-foot box and Crew Cab 6-foot, 4-inch box trucks with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine. With an extra 400 pounds of GVWR and payload capability compared to the previous model year, these truck configurations boast a maximum GVWR total of 11,440 pounds.

The new 2027 Ram 2500 lineup offers a new available Payload Upgrade Package, which includes a 3500 frame, leaf-springs, and an anti-spin rear differential and increases the GVWR from 10,000 pounds to 11,040 pounds. That means you’ll have a best-in-class 2500 payload of 4,580 pounds at your disposal! You can opt for this package on select 2500 models that are equipped with the 6.4liter HEMI V8 engine.

Speaking of packages, HD trucks with Level 1 and Level 2 equipment groups can now receive the available Sport Appearance Package and Night Edition Package. You’ll see a new Symbol of Protest V8 fender badge on trucks that have the 6.4liter HEMI V8 engine. This badge comes in a Satin Black version on the Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Rebel, Power Wagon, and trucks with the Night Edition Package.

Add some extra flair with an available sport performance hood, which is now a standalone option for the Rebel and Power Wagon. It’s also available for Big Horn trucks that have the Night Edition Package or Sport Appearance Package. Another newly standalone option for the Rebel and Power Wagon trucks (when equipped with the 6.4liter HEMI V8 engine) is a Warn electric winch.

For the 2500 Tradesman, an anti-spin rear differential is now a standalone option, while the Laramie offers new available body-color fender flares. This new Ram truck lineup also introduces two new color options for 2027: Serrano Green Metallic and Tank Clear-Coat.

Ram Heavy Duty truck powertrain options for 2027 include a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, which delivers 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, and a 6.7-liter Cummins HO Turbo Diesel I-6 engine, which delivers 430 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to towing and hauling, both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks offer astounding muscle for towing boats, trailers, campers, and more and carrying a variety of heavy loads. Each truck and engine configuration offers the following towing and payload numbers:
